May 4, 2003 Hastings to sw IA
I have a thing for playing in the dirt. I just love the blowing stuff. I decided to sit in this outflow se of Hastings. I became worried about losing all visibility and turned around. Dirt was piling in my open window as the wind ripped to the se. To think I just cleaned the dash off with armoral too. |

Here is my view east as I try and get back on the highway. |
Some kind of small tree branch or weed wacking the windshield with no downward movement. I would guess these winds were sustaining themselves around 60 mph. It wasn't that it was insanely strong but that it was picking up everything. |

Further east looking due north. |

I'm now flying north toward Lincoln NE as Ashland(north of Lincoln) is reporting winds over 100mph. Gustnado here. I was heading toward Lincoln as a supercell had formed with a nice hook and was heading ne towards Omaha. |

East of Lincoln looking north. |

The chief met from Channel 6 in Omaha is reporting a tornado under this at this time. The storm looked very nice at this point. The tornado however didn't, from video they showed. |

Huge wide waves in the anvil. The storm wasn't all that great and got even worse as it moved into IA. The chase ended around here, in sw IA somewhere. |
