I almost missed this very nice sky while sitting in my appartment. I had taken note from my chair here that the sky looked more orange than normal. I get up and look and there are really nice mammatus overhead. I flew out the door and raced to the hill near my parent's house. I grabbed the dogs and took them with, as I do every single day out there. |

Jon can be seen here with the one updraft still to the south. Roy is lost playing around with Mattie somewhere. I'm yelling for him and then the other neighbor dog starts barking and soon comes up towards us. I thought Roy had wondered down there and would come up with him, but nope. Roy comes from the other direction, where he should be and goes where he's not supposed to go, towards the dog coming to us(there is a road over that direction). So I try and chase him down, and Jon here jumps into the action trying to meet the coming dog. So Roy is ahead of me and Jon is trying to pass me. I stop Jon and lose Roy. This neighbor dog has never came to me when it wasn't with its owner. This would be the first time and was pretty shocking that he let me pet him. This is good because I had fully planned on having to drag Jon back home and return to grab Roy from this area. Keeping track of these two makes late evening photography that much harder. |
