August 30, 2007 Desoto Bend

Well I'd hoped the fog would be thick all over again, but it wasn't. It was only moderate around the lake and river. There are a bazillion deer at Desoto now. I tried to shoot these guys in the fog just before sunrise, but found it a bit hard thanks to the low lighting. The above is actually a 1600 ISO image with no noise removal done to it. What sucks about Desoto is they have way too many trees lining the roads, making viewing the deer a bit tough in many areas.

Another 1600 ISO image from my canon 100-400L IS. I think it got me to around 1/100th. This is at 400mm.

Here is another funny case on how things sometimes work out. I wasn't sure what I wanted to shoot, but decided to blow off the birds on the lake and the sunrise. I just wanted to find thicker fog locations before it was real bright out. So I drive around the loop and notice the sun rising behind the trees. It looked cool with the fog so I stopped to shoot it.

Part way into shooting it these geese fly into the shot. I guess the sun and the birds did not want to be ignored.
